TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications
What are TD Threshold Alerts?
Starting in April, 2022, TD Threshold Alerts will be sent to you when the balance in your deposit account or the available credit on your credit card or your line of credit falls below a specific alert threshold amount. If you have Overdraft Protection service on your deposit account, we will also send you these alerts when your outstanding overdraft balance is within your alert threshold amount of your Overdraft Limit. These alerts keep you informed and may help you avoid certain account fees.
How TD Threshold Alerts work
We'll send TD Threshold Alerts by text, email or both depending on your notification settings. If we don't have your Canadian mobile number or email address, we won't send you these alerts. However, if you give us your contact information at a later time, we will send them in the future. You can opt out of receiving these alerts at any time.
- TD Threshold Alerts are sent automatically
Until you change your notification settings, we’ll send you these alerts by text message if we have your Canadian mobile number, otherwise we’ll send them by email if we have your email address. - Default alert threshold amount is $100
If you don't set an alert threshold amount, it is automatically set at $100.
- Managing your notification settings
You can change how we send you TD Threshold Alerts any time in TD Alerts and Notifications within EasyWeb. - Setting and changing your alert threshold amounts
You can set and change alert threshold amounts in EasyWeb. Consider your credit limit or typical account balance when setting your alert threshold amounts.
Opt out of TD Threshold Alerts at any time
You can opt out of a TD Threshold Alert for any one or all of your deposit or credit accounts. If you choose to opt out, we won't send you these alerts.
- Log in to EasyWeb
- Go to your Profile & Settings and select TD Alerts and Notifications
- Select the Manage tab where you can review your alert notification settings and unselect both text and email notification options for each of your deposit or credit accounts
For more ways to opt out, refer to the question How do I opt out of TD Threshold Alerts?
How to identify TD Threshold Alerts
Text alerts will be sent from specific short codes and email alerts will be sent from specific email addresses. These short codes and email addresses are only used for TD Threshold Alerts and not for any other types of alerts (e.g. TD Credit Card Overlimit Notifications, TD Fraud Alerts).
A short code is a special phone number used to send and receive text messages. TD uses 5 digit short codes when sending text messages. The Threshold Alert text messages we send you will be from one of the following short codes depending on the product(s) you have with us:
- 83274
- 22775
- 22766
- 22873
- 22637
- 22856
- 22756
- 22456
- 22353
Short codes are registered with the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA). You can visit the CWTA website at https://www.txt.ca/en/current-short-code-programs/ to validate that the short code is registered to TD.
The Threshold Alert emails we send you will come from one of the following TD.com email addresses depending on the product(s) you have with us:
- TDCCTHAS@td.com
- TDCATHAS@td.com
- TDSVATHAS@td.com
- TDUSDATHAS@td.com
- TDODPTHAS@td.com
- TDUTHAS@td.com
- TDSTHAS@td.com
- TDITHAS@td.com
- TDFHTHAS@td.com
Questions You May Have
We send TD Threshold Alerts to all account holders for the following personal products:
- Deposit accounts (chequing, savings and U.S. dollar)
- Chequing accounts with Overdraft Protection service
- Credit cards (not including Authorized Users)
- Lines of credit
We won't send TD Threshold Alerts to business accounts or business lines of credit.
We will send you a TD Threshold Alert when the balance in your deposit account, or the available credit on your credit card or on your line of credit falls below the alert threshold amount. If you have Overdraft Protection service on your deposit account, we will also send you these alerts when your outstanding overdraft balance is within your alert threshold amount of your Overdraft Limit. Please keep in mind the following:
- If you continue to stay below your alert threshold amount, we won't send additional alerts. However, if at a later time you go above your alert threshold amount and then fall back below it, we will send a new TD Alert
- If you update your alert threshold amount and the change results in the balance of your deposit account or the available credit on your credit card or on your line of credit falling below the alert threshold amount, we will not send you a TD Threshold Alert
- In some cases, you may receive two alerts for the same transaction. If you wish to confirm the transaction, log in to EasyWeb or the TD app, or call us for further assistance
A hold or a freeze on the account balance and a hold or suspension of the line of credit will impact your available balance in your account or your available credit, in the case of a line of credit. As a result, if the available balance or available credit goes below your alert threshold amount, you will receive an alert.
There are different ways you can opt out of TD Threshold Alerts. We recommend using EasyWeb to opt out as this allows you to manage all of your alerts at the same time for all the products you have with TD.
In EasyWeb:
- Log in to EasyWeb
- Go to your Profile & Settings and select TD Alerts and Notifications
- Select the Manage tab where you can review your TD Alert notification settings and unselect both text and email message options for each of your deposit or credit accounts
From text and email alerts:
- You can opt out by text/email only after you receive an alert. Reply STOP to a text alert and select 'Opt out' at the bottom of an email alert
- If you have replied STOP to a TD Threshold Alert, we'll stop sending you text alerts to your mobile phone for that specific product type only. For example, if you have two or more TD personal credit cards you will no longer receive additional text alerts for all your credit card products. This applies if you select 'Opt out' for email as well
- Opting out by text/email will not impact other products you have with us, and we will continue to send TD Threshold Alerts for those products (chequing and savings accounts, lines of credit, etc.)
- Opting out applies only to the mobile number or email address where you received the alert. If you change your contact details with us in the future, we will start sending alerts to your new mobile number/email as they will not be on our 'opt out' list
TD Threshold Alerts are not encrypted or password protected, and never include a link to EasyWeb. We only include a minimal amount of personal and account information in these alerts.
