3 easy ways to avoid bank fees
You’ve got about a million books and a ton of food to buy. We get it. Money is tight when you’re a student. So why are you spending even a penny on monthly bank account fees? Luckily, with the TD Student Chequing Account you don’t pay a monthly fee and get unlimited, but there are still a few things you should know to keep more of your money in your pocket.
Get money where you get groceries
Consider getting your cheddar*, where you get your cheese. Because when you pay with your debit card at some stores, the cashier may ask if you want “cash back”? That’s your opportunity to add more money to your purchase, so you can get the cash you need from your bank account, and avoid paying ATM fees. Make sure to take into account that each time you get cash back, it counts towards your 25 transaction limit.
*By “cheddar” we mean “money”. Get it?
Become a creature of habit
Sometimes it’s best to be predictable. If you’re out and need some money, don’t head to the nearest cash machine. Instead, if you’re a TD customer, find the closest TD ATM and avoid paying ATM fees to get YOUR money.
Get more to pay less
With many bank accounts, you have a limit to the number of transactions you can make before you get charged extra fees. So if you find you’re getting close to, or going over your transaction limit, try taking out more cash at a time, so you won’t have to make as many withdrawals – and limit the fees.
TD also offers a great selection of products designed to help students get access to financing, credit cards and bank accounts that help save money and cut down on fees.
