Shop in the USA easily with TD
So you want to jump in the car with your besties and head south of the border for the weekend. Amazing! The one problem - what do you do about money?
Do you convert your Canadian money into American? Do you get those funny looking travellers cheques your parents used that one time? Can you use your debit card in the U.S.? Or should you only take a credit card?
When you bank with TD, we make travelling to the U.S. a breeze. We’ll help answer all your questions so you can find the best solution for your trip.
Here are some of the ways we can help you shop in the U.S.
1. Use your TD Access Card
Your TD Access Card is accepted in the U.S. and in 200 countries worldwide where Visa is accepted1. If you have a TD Student Chequing Account, you can shop in the U.S. with your TD Access Card or pay a U.S. bill directly from your account.
2. Visit any TD Bank and easily access your money
Enjoy quick and easy access to your funds at nearly 1,300 TD Bank stores and more than 1,800 ATMs in the U.S. (from Maine to Florida).
3. Pack your credit card
Emergencies happen so it’s always good to bring your credit card as a safety net. Here’s how it works. If you have a Canadian dollar credit card, we will bill you in Canadian dollars for any transaction made on your Account in U.S. dollars. We will convert that transaction by applying our foreign currency conversion rate in effect on the date that the transaction is posted to your Account, which is the rate established by VISA applicable on the date that the transaction is posted to your Account, plus a foreign currency conversion fee of 2.5%2.
If you visit the U.S. a lot, you may want to consider a U.S. Dollar Credit Card.
4. We’re here to help you 24/7
