Melanie Burns

Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer
TD Bank Group

As Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer, Melanie oversees TD's people and culture strategies that help the Bank enrich the lives of its customers, communities and colleagues. She is a member of the Bank's Senior Executive Team.

Melanie joined TD in 2011, bringing extensive experience in the financial services industry and managing global HR teams. Since this time, she has held various senior roles in Human Resources, progressing to the position of Executive Vice President in 2023 and assuming the role of Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer in 2024. Prior to joining the Bank, Melanie worked with The Royal Bank of Canada for 12 years leading a global HR team and supporting their Capital Markets business with offices in Toronto, New York, London and Hong Kong for part of this time. She holds a BBA from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Master of Education (MEd) from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, majoring in Organizational Development and Change. Melanie is the former Chair of the HR Committee and Board Member for Woodgreen Community Services, and currently sits as a Board Director for West Park Health Care Centre and is a member of their Executive and HR Committees.
