Equity

Equity funds invest in the stocks of public companies. These funds may be suitable for investors looking for potential growth over the long term.

Core: These funds offer long-term, well-diversified holdings that encompass the central investments in a portfolio and are expected to provide stable growth and lower risk.

Growth: These funds invest in companies that are expected to grow at a faster pace than the industry or the overall market.

Income: These funds typically invest in dividend paying equities or other securities that pay a regular level of distributions to help achieve regular income.

Index: These funds provide exposure to broad market indexes and provide instant exposure to hundreds of securities that would be time-consuming and costly for the average investor to replicate.

Quant: These funds use a systematic rules-based process to identify securities with specific attributes that have persistently generated higher returns or lower risk than a traditional market-cap index and seek to improve diversification, increase returns or lower investment risk.

Specialty: These funds seek to provide investors with specific exposure to certain sectors, regions and/or themes. These may use an active strategy to invest in a unique security type or may seek to track a particular index.

Value: These funds invest in securities that appear to be underpriced based on financial analysis or when compared to similar securities.

Fixed Income

Fixed income investments provide a fixed rate of return for a set period of time. Fixed income securities have less correlation with the stock market than equities – and can involve less risk.

Cash & Short Term: These funds invest primarily in treasury bills and other high quality, low risk short-term investments. Investors may choose these funds as a solution to help meet short-term goals or access funds in case of emergency.

Core: These funds invest primarily in investment-grade fixed-income issues including government, corporate, and securitized debt and hold less than 5% in below-investment-grade exposures.

Corporate: These funds invest in debt issued by companies and may consist of secured and unsecured bonds.

Government: These funds invest in bonds issued by federal, provincial, state or municipal governments and typically have the highest credit quality as they are guaranteed by the government.

High Yield: These funds invest in corporate debt that is lower quality and higher risk than investment grade debt. High yield bonds typically offer higher coupons than government bonds or other investment grade bonds.

Preferred: These funds invest in a share-class of corporate equity with bond-like features such as fixed dividends and rank above common shares in liquidation priority.

Target Maturity: These funds invest in corporate bonds that all mature within a specified date which can help reduce short-term volatility and provide greater clarity of cash flows over the defined term.

Multi Asset

These funds hold a combination of equities, fixed income and money market investments. The overall asset mix may be adjusted based on the fund objective and market outlook.

Balanced Funds: These funds invest in a mix of different asset classes, primarily stocks for growth potential and bonds for stability. This diversification helps to provide a balance between growth and income, while helping to reduce overall investment risk.

Portfolio Solutions: These portfolios invest in other mutual funds, ETFs or pooled funds to achieve the desired exposure rather than investing directly in securities. These are groups of similar portfolios with varying exposures to equities and fixed income to help meet the performance and risk goals across different investors.

Retirement: These portfolios are actively managed, all-in-one solutions designed to deliver sustainable retirement income through protected equity exposure. They may be appropriate for investors who are retired, nearly retired, or simply seeking the growth potential of equities with the stability of fixed income.

Alternatives

These funds invest in non-traditional asset classes such as real estate, private equity, commodities or derivatives to provide exposure to assets that help diversify a portfolio or provide uncorrelated returns.

Liquid Alternatives: These funds invest in securities within non-traditional asset classes but are bought and sold on a daily basis.

Commodities: These funds invest in raw materials or agricultural products that are typically bought and sold; such as coffee, copper or oil.
